Introduction

The project considered the detail of staff and visitors movements within the new AstraZeneca building in Cambridge, considering multiple scenarios (arrival, lunchtime, departures, conferences) and assessing whether the provision of circulation spaces, lifts and stairs was appropriate for the forecasted demand.

Momentum carried out a static pedestrian movement assessment of the building, reviewing the proposed design at an early stage to ensure any proposed modification could be picked up before the detailed design stage. The analysis demonstrated that the proposed design was generally fit for purpose, with some additional operational measures proposed for the reception desk.

The results of the modelling have been utilised to optimise the design of the main building reception and revolving doors at the entrances of the building.
