Reimagining spaces through urban design

This spring we’re taking a closer look at how good design can reimagine spaces for people.

This year is Clerkenwell Design Week’s 10th year as the UK’s leading independent design festival. As residents of Clerkenwell, we’re especially proud to support the festival as Fringe Partners. And to celebrate all things design we’ve dedicated our spring edition of Connect to the ever-evolving topic of design and urban spaces.

What design means to us…

Design? It may come as a surprise to hear a group of engineers and transport planners talk about the work they do as ‘design,’ but design and specifically urban design is an integral and essential part of everything we do.

Our senior designer Scott Ohene-Nyako defines design as:
‘The playful nature between a variety of elements that are carefully combined to solve the visible and invisible problems around us where the primary focus is to improve upon the present.’

Everything we do is by design. So to celebrate Clerkenwell Design Week we asked our team what ‘good design’ means to them.
